2026 Comparison

Bridge Pay vs Square

Square is built for US point of sale. Bridge Pay is built for European online sales.

Square dominates the American SMB market, but its limited presence in Europe and sector restrictions make it a limited choice. Bridge Pay offers a solution adapted to the European market.

Verdict: Which solution to choose?

Square excels where it was born: North American brick-and-mortar commerce, with elegant terminals and an integrated POS-payments ecosystem. For a café in Toronto or a shop in Austin, it's hard to beat.

But for a European online merchant, the suit doesn't fit: partial European coverage, features designed for the point of sale, and a risk policy that excludes sensitive sectors like everywhere else.

Bridge Pay plays the opposite field: euro-native, built for online sales, multi-currency with crypto included, and specialised in the 28 sectors mainstream processors refuse. If your business is physical and North American, keep Square. If it's online, European or high-risk (let alone all three) you're in the right place.

What it changes for you

  • 01

    In euros

You collect and receive your funds in euros, without going through a platform built around the dollar.

  • 02

    Remote selling

Online payments, payment links and a virtual terminal: the tools cover remote selling, with no POS hardware to buy.

  • 03

    European customers

Your customers authenticate with 3D Secure 2.0, the strong authentication standard used for PSD2 in Europe.

Choose Square if:

  • You're in the United States
  • You have a physical store (retail, restaurant)
  • You want an integrated hardware ecosystem
  • You're not in a high-risk sector

Choose Bridge Pay if:

  • You've been refused by other PSPs
  • You're in a high-risk sector
  • You want fast and adapted KYC
  • You're looking for expert support
  • You accept a slightly higher rate
